Programs

After School and Summer Programs:

Daily after school and summer programs help us meet our goal of inspiring girls to be strong, smart and bold. The core of our services include a development and education based program, including our 8 identity programs.

Our after school and summer programs are open to any girl age 6 through 14 in grades 1 through 8. All our site based services are available on a sliding scale fee based on family income level. Detailed information is provided on registration forms.

After school programs run from mid-August through mid-May and follow the Richmond Community Schools Calendar. After school programs run from 2:40 through 6pm Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays (MWRF) and 1:40 through 6pm on Tuesdays. Click for after school 2007-08 registration form. Summer programs run for 8 weeks and have an early bird option starting at 7:30am with full days running from 9am-5:30pm. Girls Inc. has eight Identity Programs:

Girls Inc. Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy® bolsters girls' communication and skills as well as their motivation and resources for being in charge of their sexual health and avoiding teen pregnancy.

Girls Inc. Media Literacy® encourages girls to think critically about media messages and fosters their awareness of the power of the media and its effects on girls.

Girls Inc. Operation SMART® builds girls' skills and interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Girls Inc. Economic Literacy® introduces girls to basic economic and financial concepts, including money management, investments, and global economics.

Girls Inc. Leadership and Community Action™ builds leadership skills and creates lasting social change by partnering girls and women in community action projects chosen by girls.

Girls Inc. Sporting Chance® builds movement and athletic skills, cooperative and competitive spirit, health awareness, and interest in all sports as girls explore the benefits of an active lifestyle.

Girls Inc. Project BOLD® strengthens girls' abilities to lead safer lives by developing strategies for self-defense, seeking out caring adults to help with personal violence, and advocating on violence issues.

Girls Inc. Friendly PEERsuasion® develops girls' skills to resist pressure to use harmful substances such as alcohol, tobacco, household chemicals, and other drugs.
